It’s boiling in Hollywood! π¬π Actors and screenwriters are on strike, agitated by the increasing use of artificial intelligence in their industry. An alarming suggestion from some studios: to capture actors digitally so that they can be used “for the rest of eternity”. Sounds like the content of the episode “Joan Is Awful” from the Netflix series “Black Mirror” if you’ve seen it – although very few people probably thought that was so close to reality π₯ππ€
On my latest voyage of discovery into the world of AI tools, I used a tool from Wonder Dynamics to create a video on the subject. In it, I appear in three different roles – as myself, as a comics professor and as a robot. You can decide which role you like best ππ¬πΊππ€
While I happily dance through the video as a comic professor or a robot, we should take a step back and consider the ethical issues that these technologies raise. The increasing digitalization of our identities raises important questions. How do we protect our privacy and personal rights in a world where our expressions and movements can be reproduced digitally? Could stricter data protection laws and their consistent monitoring be a possible solution? ππ
These issues are far-reaching and require our joint commitment to finding solutions. What do you think? I look forward to your thoughts π‘
